sorry for the lag in posting! I’m sure NO ONE really cared. hah.

Right now in PA school I’m on rotations…”interning”…more like working for FWEEEEE. HIGH possibility of used and abused for sure. Grunt work up the wazoo. Then you get to deal with awesome people who say things like this:

"OMG! You speak English SO GOOD! No accent at all!"

Thanks sir. Perhaps you should pick up an EATS SHOOTS AND LEAVES book and go over some grammar. BTW I was born in the STATES. AKA HERE.

"WOW! For all that work [rotations] you should have went to Med School."

Thanks for the life advice, but unless you’re gonna pay for it, I’m not considering a career change anytime soon.

"You look so familiar! Are you sure we haven’t met before?"

I get that a lot. Probably at the Pei Wei down the street.

Fortunately, it’s been grand learning skills and seeing what specialties i like or don’t like. Sadly, with my schedule more random, I’ve been scarce in the gym. However, i’ve decided to change up my program?(as if there was one) and start implementing more yoga (jesus i’m no gumby) and running (woohoo) and different gym stuoff. Its easy to cherry pick workouts and kinda get in this blase phase when you’re not in a class or with another person. I’ve made it my goal to attempt go out of my comfort zone/impress the gym guys. JUST KIDDING. sorta not.

having a chair break when you sit on it after eating a snack sure is a wake up call.

moral of the story: don’t buy discounted chairs from office supply stores.

rock climbing followed by sonoran dog. hellz yeah. may not be on my whole 30 diet, but DAYUM did that go down good.

you know how some crossfitters have a sport? like running, etc? I feel like i found my sport. I used to think running? but then i’d be like EHhh. Climbing tho….i think i found mah thing. Like you know that feeling you get when you first drink the koolaid of crossfit…it’s the same buzz, the same high, the same I WANNA TRAIN TO GET GOOD at this. Not gonna lie i’ve been feeling bummed out about crossfit- kinda like in a rut a bit. Scaling a wall is like functional fitness AT ITS PRIME. The only routes i really try at the 6s. 7s are beyond my reach (HAHA NO PUN INTENDED).

"wow. with all that work you do in PA school, you should have gone to medical school to be a doctor."

rough morning:

sucked at toes to bar

discovered i forgot to pay a bill so it was late and a larger amount.

lessons learned:

practice t2b diligently, tape hands

pay bills when you get them and don’t wait coz you will forget no matter what (early onset alzheimers).

the end.

Making friends at the gym: awesome.

Making a new gym friend because the guy saw you overhead squat and asked you about crossfit and you bond over a mutual hatred of wall balls? RAW-some

yaminoyume-deactivated20140908 said: Hello! I saw your post about the ginger chicken soup while I was coasting the recipe tag and I admit I am very curious! I don't often cook with ginger but I like it, and that soup sounded too intriguing to ignore. (Also it sounds like it'd be wonderful to have while sick-- I hope you're feeling better!) How do you make it? :D

Hey there!

You’ll need a couple of drumsticks, raw ginger root, and a lot of water.

First, get some water boiling, and take the skin off the chicken drumsticks. Blanch the drumsticks so they are partially cooked. Remove the drumsticks and discard the water.

Bring a fresh pot of water up to boil. Add about 1-2 inch block of raw ginger (i didn’t peel mine, i just washed it off) and the drumsticks.

Reduce to a simmer, and then continue cooking until the drumstick meat begins to fall off the bone. Take it off the bone, put it back in the soup, and season the whole pot with salt to taste. My mom likes to add in some “accent” but I didn’t have any on hand. There might be some foam, so skim that sucker off. Usually you can tell as the water goes from clear to a “broth” color that you’re on the right track! You might have to add in more water, mine kept evaporating but just keep on simmering away to flavor the new water you added in.

I’ll try to take pictures when I make a new broth. Hope this helps- if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask me!

Photo 4 Sep 1 note I made a pot of ginger chicken soup. I had written this lovely post and paragraph about this and other stuff but Tumblr lost it :(
If you want the recipe let me know- tis really simple. The drumsticks make their own broth and you don’t need a can of chicken broth! Ginger is a nice flavor too. Hopefully my stuffy head cold goes away ASAP. I spent my whole Labor Day weekend sick. :(

Photo 1 Sep 1 note just a little snackeroo before running errands. golden kiwis- sweeter than the green, and much more eye-catching. :)
rotations are a trial. each day is kinda like doing a chipper WOD. i guess the best description is Filthy Fifty 4 days in a row. yep. THAT mentally grueling.
